Kelsey Mard is a Charlotte-based wedding and portrait photographer who believes that photographs help us know one another. Using both film and digital photography, she creates images with depth, texture, and a thoughtful balance of polish and feeling.

Inspired by light, nature, and connection, Kelsey is drawn to the humor, familiarity, resilience, and quiet acts of kindness that tell the story of a relationship.

Kelsey lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband, two dogs, and rescue kitten, Dolly. She is available for local and destination weddings, portraits, and commercial commissions.

MY APPROACH

My approach resonates with couples who value human connection over performance. My couples want to feel fully present, and care deeply about preserving the people, relationships, and candid moments that matter most. I believe some of the most meaningful images come from allowing space for things to unfold naturally, but I also know when a little guidance can help people feel more comfortable, connected, or fully themselves. Over years of photographing people, I’ve learned to recognize when to fall back and when to gently step in.
I approach every couple a bit differently — rather than asking you to fit into a formula, I pay attention to who you already are together and how you show affection, then guide in a way that feels natural to you.
The photographs that resonate with me most aren't about perfect smiles or everyone looking at the camera. They're about personality, connection, and the fleeting moments of childhood and the familiar ways your family naturally fits together.
I approach every family with curiosity rather than a formula. I spend time getting to know each person and observing how you interact, offering direction only when it helps everyone feel comfortable and connected. The result is a collection of photographs that reflects not only what this season of life looked like, but what it felt like to be part of your family.
